Soft Ginger Gems

2 oz butter
½ cup sugar
3 tablespns golden syrup
1 egg
1 cup floor
1 teaspn ginger
1 teaspn baking soda
½ cup milk

Cream butter and sugar till light then blend golden syrup.
Beat the egg and stir in

Sift flour ginger and soda into mixture then add milk and stir

Put butter in very hot gem irons. Drop in batter

Bake at 425 to 450 (hot oven) for 12 minutes on second to bottom rung
