Mary Magdalene by Delacroix
In the Delacroix museum in Paris there hangs the artist's rendering of Mary Magdalene. Nothing is as rich as the simplicity of the human face, intrepid, unadorned, more awash with light than loss. With head cocked, she gazes up to her crucified master. Her face imparts hope and despair. The master has touched her forehead, she sees as he sees, humankind will run amok a thousand times in his name.
